Alphatec Spine Adds New Vice President and General Manager, Latin America BY EDITOR, MAY 6, 2010

Armin Weichert Brings Over 25 Years of Sales and Management Experience in Medical Device and Life Sciences Industries

CARLSBAD, Calif., May 5, 2010 (GlobeNewswire via COMTEX News Network) -- Alphatec Holdings, Inc. (Nasdaq:ATEC), the parent company of Alphatec Spine, Inc., a medical device company that designs, develops, manufactures and markets products for the surgical treatment of spine disorders, with a focus on treating conditions related to the aging spine, announced today that Armin Weichert, who has over 25 years of sales and management experience in the medical device and life sciences industries, has been named the Company's new Vice President and General Manager, Latin America.

Mr. Weichert, who will be based in Brazil, fills this newly created position to oversee all of Alphatec Spine's Latin American operations. He will be responsible for directing and overseeing Alphatec Spine's marketing and sales expansion in Latin America, including efforts to secure experienced spine product distributors that will exclusively sell the Company's products, as well as building relationships with key medical opinion leaders.

Most recently, Mr. Weichert served as the Division Director in Brazil for Aesculap, AG, a position he held for over 10 years, in which he was responsible for managing all of Aesculap's operations in Brazil. Mr. Weichert has worked at Aesculap for over 20 years, and has had increasing roles of business development and sales responsibility.

"We are pleased that we were able to successfully attract someone with a background as strong as Armin's to lead our Latin American operations," said Dirk Kuyper, the Company's President and Chief Executive Officer. "Given his wealth of experience in medical device sales and marketing in that region of the world, we believe he will provide a significant boost to our Latin American business."
