DePuy Synthes Invests $60M to Expand its Irish Orthopedic Manufacturing Facilities BY ANDREW VAHRADIAN, JUNE 17, 2015

Depuy Synthes, the orthopedic medical device subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson, invested €53.2 million ($59.8 million) into its manufacturing facilities located in Ringaskiddy, Cork, Ireland. The funds will be used to expand the plant's production capabilities.

The 320,000 sq ft plant expansion includes a new Medical Device Test Methods Center of Excellence laboratory to advance quality testing methods across the Johnson & Johnson family of medical device companies.

The Ringaskiddy-based facility, was established in 1997 and primarily manufactures knee, hip and shoulder replacement joint systems. The company currently employs 800 people at the site.
