Modern Dental Group Limited entered into a definitive agreement to acquire MicroDental Laboratories, a leading network of dental labs across North America. The transaction is anticipated to close in October 2016, subject to shareholder approval. Modern Dental Group, a publicly-held company trading on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, and maintains the largest share of the dental prosthetic markets in Western Europe, Australia, China and Hong Kong. As a result of this transaction, Modern’s existing North American operations will be enhanced by 21 new dental lab locations in the United States and Canada.

K2M received 520(k) clearance from the FDA for the expansion of its CASCADIA Lateral Interbody System. CASCADIA utilizes the company's Lamellar 3D Titanium Technology, a titanium powder grown into porous structures, to provide support for bony integration throughout the implant.

Trice Medical received 510(k) clearance from the FDA for its in-office diagnostic device, mi-eye 2, a disposable needle with an integrated camera for diagnostic imaging in the diagnosis of joint injuries. The device is designed for use in operative arthroscopic and endoscopic procedures to illuminate the interior cavity of the body through a natural or surgical opening.

Solvay Specialty Polymers' announced that Shanghai Reach Medical Instrument Co. is using its medical grade KetaSpire polyetheretherketone (PEEK) and AvaSpire polyaryletherketone (PAEK) polymers for the development of a lighter and cost-effective kit of reusable instruments for spinal procedures. Shanghai Reach's kit will include six reusable instruments, one rod bender, two pairs of distractions and compression pliers, and three awls.

Stryker Spine launched its LITe BIO Delivery System, a hand-held bone graft delivery device. The system intends to deliver any type of autograft, allograft, or synthetic bone graft material. The device's low-profile design utilizes a radiolucent strip that allows for direct visualization of graft placement through a decompression tube in spinal surgery sites.

Bone Therapeutics announced clinical results from one half of patients treated in the Phase IIA spinal fusion trial with its ALLOB. The study intends to evaluate the safety and efficacy of ALLOB for the treatment of degenerative disc disease. ALLOB is an interbody cage with bioceramic granules that is implanted into the lumbar spine to achieve fusion. The clinical results show successful evidence of fusion, clinical improvements in function and reduced pain at six months after treatment.

Exactech announced positive surgeon feedback on first surgeries performed with its Total Shoulder Application, which combines preoperative planning with intraoperative computer-assisted technology which aids the surgeon in locating anatomical structures and aligning the endoprostheses with anatomical structures. The shoulder application is deisgned to guide the preparation of the glenoid in shoulder arthroplasty, minimizing early loosening and poor procedural outcomes due to limited exposure and poor operative landmarks during surgery.

Alphatec Holdings, the parent company of Alphatec Spine, Inc., a provider of spinal fusion technologies, announced changes to the Company's executive leadership team, a reduction in the Company's workforce and an inducement award granted to Craig Hunsaker, the Company's newly appointed Executive Vice President, People & Culture. Michael O'Neill, Alphatec's Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer, has resigned effective October 5, 2016. Dennis Nelson, the Company's Vice President of Finance and Corporate Controller, a position he has held since 2011, will serve as the interim principal financial and accounting officer for filings under the Securities Act of 1933 and the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, while the Company executes its search for a Chief Financial Officer. In addition, today the Company reduced its workforce by approximately 20%.The Company has granted restricted stock units (RSUs) and performance stock-based awards (PSAs) to Craig Hunsaker, Alphatec's newly appointed Executive Vice President, People & Culture.

ChoiceSpine appointed Chisty Cote as the company's Vice President of Biologics. Prior to ChoiceSpine, Ms. Cote served as Vice President of Biologics of Amendia and Biologics Regional Vice President of Orthofix, bringing to the company over 14 years of experience in stem cell technology, surgical implants, and regenerative therapies.
